Gianmaria Romagnoli was born in Rome to a family rich in musical tradition. He graduated with a degree in Architecture from the University “La Sapienza” of Rome then went on to percussion and piano at the "Conservatorio dell’ Aquila". He also has his diplomas in scenography and sculpture from the ”Rome Academy of Arts” and a degree in dramatic arts from the “Dramatic Academy S. D’Amico” of Rome.
At this time he has residences in New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) and Rome. His opera debut was with “Madama Butterfly”. Then followed “Falstaff” with Rolando Panerai at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno. Next “Aida”, "Rigoletto”, “BarberofSeville”, “Lucia di Lammermoor”, ”Gianni Schicchi” and “Norma”.
Gianmaria Romagnoli has directed shows in Italy, Croatia, Belgium, France, Turkey, Jordan,
Switzerland, U.S.A., Brasil, Spain, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, SantoDomingo, Morocco, Canada, South Korea, Portugal, Egypt, etc. He has directed several television programs and commercial spots and worked with some movie productions as a location manager and set designer.
Besides working with all of the great opera repertoire he also has background with many baroque
works such as Handel, Pergolesi, Scarlatti, Orlandini,Vivaldi,etc. Recently (2000/2003) he has directed MANON LESCAUT at Teatro Regio di Parma, ANDREA CHENIER in Pensacola, Fl (U.S.A), AIDA in Brescia, AIDA in Donetsk, LA TRAVIATA in Bruxelles, BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA in Mississauga, Canada, CARMEN in Brasilia, AIDA in Agrigento, TROVATORE(Korea), TURANDOT in Donetsk, BUTTERFLY in Bruxelles, TRAVIATA in Theatre Royal Rabat, Morocco, TRAVIATA in Metairie, La and Biloxi,Ms, (USA), NABUCCO in Germany, AIDA in Lecco Opera festival, RIGOLETTO in Vigevano,TRAVIATA and BARBIERE in Lecco Opera Festival, RIGOLETTO in Santo Domingo Opera de Las Americas (starring Justino Diaz), TOSCA in Copenhagen, BARBIERE in Metairie, La and Biloxi, Ms and THE MAGIC FLUTE at The Bergen Opera Festival in Norway, BARBIERE in Santo Domingo Opera de Las Americas, AIDA a Brescia, BOHEME in Mexico City, NABUCCO in Ulm, Bielefeld, Munich and Stuttgart,Germany, TRAVIATA in Kupfstaein Manor Fest, Austria, AIDA in Sportshalle in Pesaro. Last but not least NABUCCO, AIDA, TRAVIATA and BUTTERFLY in Germany, TOSCA (full production, set, lights, staging, costumes) in the Warsaw State Opera, BOHEME in Zagreb as well renewals of Samareglia's OCEANA and KATARINA IZMAILOVA, BARBER OF SEVILLE at the first edition of EUROMACLASSICA Festival TIVOLI (Rome), BARBER OF SEVILLE at Apollo Theater in Syros (Greece) for the Opera Aegean where he will be back with DON GIOVANNI, next summer.
Romagnoli will debut in Japan in August 2006 with IL LINGUAGGIO DEI FIORI by the italian modern composer Rossellini. |
